About CrossFit COMO
CrossFit COMO is Columbia, Mo.’s premier CrossFit training facility. Our 4,200-square-foot facility is equipped with a 24″ freestanding pull-up/squat rig, 1000s of lbs of bumper plates, olympic weightlifting bars, kettlebells, medicine balls, rowers, and various other equipment along with restrooms and a hang-out area for kids.
We offer group and individual coaching in the CrossFit methodology. CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity. But so what does that mean? It means our workouts are always different (like every day of life), they involve full-body movements (like those found in everyday life), and we perform these movements at high intensity (but always with proper technique and form; safety is paramount).
How do we do it?
At CrossFit COMO, you won’t find rows of ellipticals, stationary bikes and weight machines. Instead, we’ve got pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells and tons of wide-open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing — moving your body the way it’s meant to be moved. All our workouts are comprised of exercises that mimic movements found in day-to-day life or in casual sports. You’d never bicep curl your child to pick them up, so why would you do it in the gym? We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities.
This also means you’ll never get bored. With our constantly varied programming, it’s rare to do the same workout twice in a given year, and you’ll never have to program your own workouts or spend hours in the gym either. Instead, our workouts are always provided, they’re scalable to your personal fitness level, and they’re rarely longer than 45 minutes, fitting into even the busiest schedules.
Our fitness programming aims to improve your capacity in ten intuitive fitness domains: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The end result? Comprehensive physical fitness and restored vitality.

Introducing our community: The AMBUSH
Search any dictionary for “tribe” or “community” and you’ll find the following definitions:
tribe (noun): a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.
community (noun): a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
In CrossFit, community is the driving factor behind our success, both physically and mentally. Simply put, we can’t be successful without our community. Our community keeps us accountable. Our community inspires. Our community keeps us focused on all our individual and collective goals.
So why the “AMBUSH?”
It’s pretty simple. First, take a look at our logo — we have adopted a tiger as our mascot. Why a tiger? Because everything a tiger stands for is what we embody at CrossFit COMO. A tiger represents strength, courage, protection and prosperity.
And accordingly, a group of tigers is called an AMBUSH.
