14.1 is in the books… and we couldn’t be more pumped about the success of our community (The AMBUSH)! The preliminary CrossFit Open WOD was a 10-minute AMRAP consisting of 30 double-unders and 15 power snatches, with Rx weight varying per competition class.
This year, we have 34 CrossFit COMO athletes officially registered for the 2014 CrossFit Open — and for all but seven of our athletes, it’s their first time competing!
What’s more, two athletes made some especially remarkable progress during 14.1: Michael M. and Ranya A. had only completed a handful of double-unders prior to the Open, but after 14.1, they each completed 60. That’s the true determination and the attitude of CrossFit COMO!
And while this was certainly a momentous occasion for our box, the global CrossFit community saw a huge turnout as well. More than 181,000 individual athletes registered to compete in 14.1! That’s an impressive 31% increase in registrations from 2013’s Open, for which about 138,000 people registered.
Also, after 14.1, coach Dylan Kelly is tied for 23rd in the North Central Region! Congrats Dylan!
