Where’s your hometown? Who are you outside of CrossFit COMO?

I consider myself from Paris…Missouri that is – although I went to high school in Moberly (I deny that most of the time). Auto Claim Manager – State Farm Insurance, & have been there for 14 years.

When did you first start training at CrossFit COMO?

February 2015

What is your sports & fitness background?

Sports–I ran track growing up. Over the years many coaches in school tried to get me to play basketball or volleyball but it turns out, being tall doesn’t make you talented or coordinated!!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit COMO?

I was introduced to SWEAT for a 6 week program at State Farm, and the results after just 4 were obvious! When I started CF officially – it didn’t take long to see results in terms of tone and muscle. As the months continue to roll on, I continue to lose inches while gaining muscle and actually feel good during (for the most part -just don’t ask me while doing burpees) and after my workouts.

What’s your favorite CrossFit COMO memory?

Completing Foundations and stepping into my first 5am WOD. Day 1 of Foundations I wasn’t sure it was for me, day 2 I didn’t think I could physcially do it. But then it was over before I knew it and I WAS doing it! Walking into my first 5am WOD was nerve-racking and intimidating, or so I thought. Everyone was so friendly, encouraging, and helpful. I have made some great new friends walking into that class and we share a bond other non-crossfitters wouldn’t quite understand!

What goal are you currently working towards?

I am working on handstand pushups. I was thrilled when I realized I had the ability to even do handstand holds and shoulder taps. I want to be consistent at being able to do them. I also want to accomplish more than one DU at a time. Some things may alway be a bit of a struggle but even getting 2 in a row would make me happy!

Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?

My advice for anyone thinking of joining or recently joining CrossFit. Do not underestimate the power of the human body when in the right mind. You can accomplish so much more than you realize. You may not be strong enough now or fast enough now, but day by day you will be closer and closer to your goals. Soon, you will be making new goals after accomplishing old ones. Don’t allow your fears to prevent you from trying. We are all here to welcome you, encourage you, and help you along the way!!
