Where’s your hometown? Who are you outside of CrossFit COMO?

Butler, Missouri.  But my wife and I have lived in Columbia for more years than anywhere else.  Both our girls were born and raised here, graduated from Hickman High School and still Columbia residents, so this is home.

When did you first start training at CrossFit COMO?

I first started at Crossfit COMO on April 1st, 2015.

What is your sports & fitness background?

Played football and wrestled in high school.  Then a huge gap in consistent fitness workouts.  Been consistently working out since May 1st, 2014 after a cardiac episode.  Went through cardiac rehab, and worked out in some fashion 6 days a week since, adding the CrossFit workouts for more intensity the first of April, 2015.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit COMO?

While body changes have been subtle, I have decreased my body fat. One of my health goals post cardiac episode have been lower cholesterol and triglyceride numbers.  They have dropped dramatically because of the exercise level of CrossFit, so I know I am healthier.  I experience the increased fitness level outside of the gym.  The WOD’s come a bit easier, but working around the house comes much, much easier that before CrossFit COMO.

What’s your favorite CrossFit COMO memory?

I don’t know that I have any specific moments, but I happy that I come 3 times a week and do the WOD regardless of what it includes and finish them all. I don’t pick and choose, so the variety is my favorite.

What goal are you currently working towards?

Certainly weight loss and reduced body fat.  Working hard as I can to get more and more fit with every WOD.

Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?

Just do it!  Don’t get hung up on weights or speed or what the others around you are doing.  Don’t get frustrated.  Just keep after it and you get better by some increment every day.
