What brought you to CrossFit?
Several friends in Springfield had talked about CrossFit for years. Being a runner, I was never really interested. We hired a personal trainer in July 2012 and she had us do our first burpee and introduced us to kettlebells. We had some discussions about CF over Memorial Day 2013 and a friend sent me a link about CrossFit COMO opening. Dearld and I wanted to try theFoundations Course, to see what all they hype was about. We never intended to like it and really thought it was like a cult!
What was your first impression?
After coming to the box for foundations on June 13, 2013, I was hooked. I loved the competitive nature of the exercises and even though I was terrible at everything, I felt like this was something I wanted to try and knew I could improve. I had no weight lifting background whatsoever, had never even touched a bar or loaded weights.
What’s been your biggest accomplishment?
Sticking with it, almost a year. I go 4-5 days a week, most weeks, including my runs. It has made me a better, faster runner too.
What are you working on now?
Still chasing those pull ups and double unders.
What’s your favorite CrossFit COMO memory?
I have lots of them. Most are when you finish a WOD that you look at when you walk in and say “no way”. Btw, I don’t hardly say “no way” anymore. I feel like I can tackle most anything Brian throws out there, no matter how crazy it seems!
